Turmeric - Intense Yellow Rhizome

A member of the ginger family, the turmeric plant is a herbaceous perennial native to Southern Asia and is cultivated in the tropics. The plant typically reaches heights of up to 1 m, with its flowering period occurring around August. Once flowering is complete, the valuable root can be harvested. This rhizome is characterised by a warm, pungent aroma and a vibrant, intense yellow colour. Historically considered sacred in ancient India - a status it retains to this day - turmeric is a staple of Ayurvedic cuisine. Beyond its culinary applications, the spice is frequently utilised as a key ingredient in natural remedies.
